Odomap
Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
The short version: Odomap needs a free account. What you record is kept on your phone and saved to your account in our cloud, photos included, so you can get it back on a new phone. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and the app has no ads, analytics, or tracking.
Odomap is made by an independent developer (“we” and “us” in this policy). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
What we collect
To use Odomap you create a free account. We then collect and store:
Account details
Your username, email address, phone number, and password. Your password is stored only in a scrambled one-way form (a hash), so nobody, including us, can read it.
Your Odomap data
Your bikes, finished rides (including each ride's GPS route, speed, and lean-angle stats), maintenance records, fuel logs, expenses, profile name and bio, and app settings such as units and text size. A ride is saved to your account only once you finish it.
Photos and documents
Your profile picture, bike photos, and the receipt photos and PDFs you attach to records.
Technical information
When the app talks to our server, the server sees your IP address and records basic details of each request (such as the time and which feature was used). We use this only to keep the service secure, for example to block repeated wrong-password attempts, and to fix problems.
Saving is automatic: a few seconds after you add, change, or delete something, the change is saved to your account. When you sign out, your data is removed from the phone and stays in your account; signing in again brings it back.
How we use your information
We use it only to run your account and to save and restore your data. Your email address and phone number identify your account and are never used for marketing. We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to build a profile of you. No other Odomap user can see your account details or your data.
Where it's stored and how it's protected
Your account and backed-up data are stored on servers we rent from Google Cloud in the United States. Google only hosts the data for us; it doesn't use it for its own purposes.
Everything travels between the app and our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and Google Cloud encrypts the stored data. Your photos sit in private storage that can only be reached through short-lived links issued to your own account. On your phone, your sign-in is kept in the iPhone's secure Keychain.
Services Odomap uses
Google Maps
Maps in Odomap are provided by Google Maps. When a map is on screen, Google receives the area you're viewing, your IP address, and, if the map is showing where you are, your location. Google handles this under its own Privacy Policy, and your use of the maps is subject to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service.
Place search and route planning
When you search for a place or plan a route in the Navigation tab, what you type, your current location (so nearby places are listed first), and the start and end points of the route are sent to our server, which asks Google (Google Places and Google Routes) to find the places and routes. These requests aren't linked to your account, and our server doesn't keep what you searched for or where you were going; it only counts how many requests it makes each month.
Apple Maps
If Google isn't available, Odomap shows Apple's map instead and asks Apple to find places and routes; those requests go from your phone straight to Apple, which handles them under its own privacy policy.
Turn-by-turn directions
When you tap to ride a planned route, the route's start, end, and a few points along it are opened in the Google Maps app (or Apple Maps), which handles them under its own privacy policy.
Apple Intelligence
Receipt scanning uses Apple's on-device AI when your phone supports it. It runs entirely on your phone, and your receipt photos aren't sent to us or to anyone else.
Permissions Odomap asks for
Location
To record your ride's route, distance, and speed, including in the background while a ride is being recorded and your phone is locked, and to show where you are on the map.
Motion & Fitness
To measure your bike's lean angle while a ride is being recorded.
Camera & Photo Library
To add a profile picture, a photo of your bike, or a photo of a receipt.
Notifications
To remind you when maintenance is due. Reminders are scheduled on your phone; we don't send them from a server.
What these permissions capture is stored on your phone. If you have an account, your finished rides and photos are also saved to it, as described above.
Deleting your data
Single items: when you delete a bike, ride, record, or photo in the app, it's also deleted from your account the next time the app saves. Deleting a bike also deletes its rides, service records, expenses, and fuel logs.
Your whole account: go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account details and everything saved to it, including your photos and documents, from our servers, and removes your data from the phone.
Our storage provider keeps deleted photos and documents hidden for 7 days before erasing them for good, so a mistake can be undone. Our server also makes an automatic safety copy every night; each copy is deleted after 7 days and erased for good 7 days after that. Deleted information is fully gone within 14 days.
Your choices
You can change your password in Settings, sign out (which removes your data from the phone but keeps it in your account), and delete your account at any time. To get a copy of the information we hold about you, or to change your email or phone number, email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in the EU, UK, or Switzerland
Data protection laws there, such as the GDPR, give you the rights below. We honor them wherever you live.
Who is responsible
The independent developer who makes Odomap is the “controller” of your information. You can reach us at the email address below.
Why we're allowed to use it
Your account details and Odomap data: because we need them to provide the service you signed up for. Request details such as your IP address: because of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working. Location, motion, camera, photos, and notifications: only with your permission, which you can withdraw at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
Where it goes
Odomap is run from the United States, and your information is stored there on Google Cloud servers. Data protection law in the United States may differ from the law where you live.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. When you delete something, or your whole account, it's fully gone within 14 days, as described above. Request details are kept only as long as we need them to keep the service secure and fix problems.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information (including in a machine-readable format), ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, and object to our using it for security and troubleshooting. Email us and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.
Your account details are needed to create an account; without them we can't provide Odomap. We don't make automated decisions about you or build a profile of you.
Children's privacy
Odomap is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Odomap handles your information, we'll update this page and its date before the change takes effect. If we add features that share information with other riders, such as group chat, this policy will be updated before those features launch.
